33% of Togo’s arable lands mapped under key project

(Togo First) - In Togo, nearly two million hectares of land were analyzed to draw a soil fertility map. The latter is aimed at enabling farmers to be better informed about the composition of their land. The information was disclosed last Wednesday during the council of ministers.

This map will help farmers plant crops and use a fertilizer that matches the composition of their land.

Out of the total areas analyzed, around 1.2 million ha have been mapped. This represents 33.18% of Togo’s arable lands.

The mapping project was launched three years ago and “should help not only boost crop yields and productivity but also draw a crop map, in line with the second axis of the government’s roadmap for the 2025 Togo Plan.”

Out of all the 'Doing Business’ indicators, Property Registration is where Togo has improved the most since 2018. Indeed, after spending years in the lowest part of this ranking, the country now seeks to beat Rwanda which is the best performer on this index in Africa. To do so, Lomé has been introducing many reforms, with the latest batch implemented this year.
