Togo: Victoire Dogbe Appointed to Lead Transitional Government

(Togo First) - Yesterday, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé appointed Victoire Sidémého Tomegah-Dogbé as Prime Minister to lead the transitional government outlined in the new constitution adopted on May 6, 2024. This transitional period is expected to last until the end of the year when the new constitution will fully take effect.

Victoire Tomegah-Dogbé has served as Prime Minister since 2020. During her tenure, the government has launched several initiatives to improve infrastructure, promote social inclusion, and strengthen Togo's economic resilience against global challenges. Her government resigned on May 21, following parliamentary elections held on April 29, with final results announced on May 13.

A new government is anticipated to be announced in the coming days.
