Togo's water utility decides to adopt pre-paid meters for better results

(Togo First) - To optimize bill payment, Togo's water utility (Togolaise des Eaux - TDE) is opting for prepaid meters, a source close to the business climate cell indicated.

The decision aims at allowing customers to quickly get access to water and personally monitor their consumption. It is part of a battery of reforms set to ease bill payment and quotations. These include adopting mobile money (Tmoney and Flooz) and e-banking as payment methods. The utility also created an online platform where it is possible to apply for a meter.

Just like the TDE, the CEET opted for pre-paid meters some months ago, to easily collect unpaid bills that were piling up. All the reforms should ultimately improve Togo's business environment.
