Togo: Five Mother-Child Hospitals Expected by Year’s End

(Togo First) - A project to build five mother-and-child hospitals across Togo was announced two years ago.

Togolese Prime Minister, Victoire Tomegah Dogbé expects the project to be completed by the end of this year. She disclosed the forecast in her general policy statement to Parliament on August 23.

According to details dating from April 2022, each Togolese region will get one mother-and-child hospital. The largest hospital will have a capacity of 175 beds and should be a reference, nationwide.

The other centers will be smaller, with a capacity of 50 beds. The project to build mother-and-child hospitals is one of the biggest that the Dogbé government has announced in the health sector.

The PM stressed that health is a priority for the transitional government. In line with this goal, around 80 new health facilities will be built and equipped soon. They will add to 200 already completed.
